Swiss Hotel Management School has various excursion for its students every Saturday and the gastronomy trip in Lausanne was one of them. Well, from the name gastronomy we guessed that there would be a showcase of food and beverages from around the world but when we got there it really shocked and disappointed us.
It wasn't a food exhibition but instead a food technology exhibition. It ranges from microwaves, ovens, stoves and etc. Well, the few of us had a simple plan in mind of leaving this place and walking around the area exploring Lausanne because it was just so boring.
Thus, we left and begin walking on to the nearest city that we could find. At first we wanted to head towards the lake because we could see it easily from a high ground, but we couldn't find the way there thus we switched to the city center instead. It was quite an interesting walk as we saw various architecture buildings that were amazing and unique to the my eyes. We nearly got lost, but thankfully we had someone in the group who spoke fluent French and we asked for help from a local lady whom gave us the direction to the city center.
The walk ended up all the way to us visiting the museum and library of the area, after crossing through roads and various walkways. I learned quite a lot of history on that day compared to gastronomy although we had to pay to enter and see the museum. Surprisingly, my group of friends were also fascinated by the exhibitions in the museum. After a long hour in the museum, we headed over to a nearby cafe for some lunch where I had a single chicken burger with a can of coke.
Finally, we walked back to the original gastronomy place but we stopped by Starbucks to get some coffee along the way because it started to rain and when it rains in Switzerland, its becomes quite cold and the warm coffee helps.
